Department of Mining and Mineral Engineering: Leadership and Sustainability in Serving Natural Resources

Establishment and Aspirations:

The Department of Mining and Mineral Engineering was established in 2004, stemming from a strategic vision aimed at meeting Jordan's increasing need for specialists in the mining and minerals sector. The idea for its establishment drew strength from the natural wealth that the southern regions of Jordan and the country as a whole possess in vast mineral resources, in addition to the special importance that the university attaches to this vital field.

The department aspires to be a fundamental source for the labor market, graduating highly qualified engineers in various fields of mining industries, both extractive and transformative, at the regional level. The specialization of mining engineering is characterized by its scarcity and high demand in many governmental institutions and the private sector.

Pioneering Academic Programs:

The Department of Mining and Mineral Engineering offers two distinguished academic programs:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering: A unique program in Jordan, it equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to the development of the mining sector.
  • Master of Science in Sustainable Management of Engineering Projects: A leading program in the Middle East focuses on integrating sustainability concepts into the management of engineering projects and sustainable engineering, keeping pace with modern global trends.

These two distinguished programs attract ambitious students from Jordan and neighboring countries, seeking to acquire specialized expertise in these vital fields.
