The Department of Chemistry, which is one of the college of Science departments at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, was established in 2004 with a passion to be one of the premier departments among peers in the southern part of Jordan. Since then, the Department of Chemistry has persisted to achieve excellence in education, scientific research and community service. It provides the labor market with competitive graduates to serve in the fields of education, chemical industries, mining industries, and others.
The Department of Chemistry offers an exceptional study plan designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of key knowledge areas, empowering graduates to excel in the competitive labor market. Upon the successful completion of the program, students are awarded a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Additionally, the department established a Master's degree in Applied Chemistry in the 2022/2023 academic year, providing advanced education and research opportunities for those seeking to specialize further in the field.
Currently, the department has highly qualified faculty members who hold several academic ranks. The department also has several laboratory technicians and office staff. The department’s facilities include teaching and research laboratories equipped for the main fields of chemistry such as analytical chemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry, and industrial chemistry.
