The Department of Computer Information Systems was established in 2009 to align with the evolving landscape of information technology. Initially, the Computer Information Systems specialization was part of the Information Technology Department within the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Engineering. The program began in the academic year 2002/2003. With the establishment of the Faculty of Information Technology in 2009, Computer Information Systems became an independent department within the College of Information Technology, alongside the Computer Science Department and the Software Engineering Department.

The department boasts a distinguished group of highly qualified faculty members with extensive academic expertise. It comprises six PhD holders, including three full professors and three associate professors, as well as three faculty members holding master's degrees, supported by an administrative staff. This diverse and experienced team contributes to providing an outstanding academic environment that supports both teaching and research excellence.

The department has earned accreditation from the Accreditation Authority for Universities in Jordan.

The department offers a diverse curriculum covering topics such as information system analysis and design, information security and confidentiality, network management, knowledge management systems, database systems, e-commerce and application development, system building and simulation, and Internet applications. These subjects are closely related to computerization, business analysis, and administration. The College is equipped with eight labs to enhance students' practical skills in their field of study, providing them with the expertise needed to analyze, design, develop, operate, and manage information systems in both governmental and private sector organizations.
