 Faculty of Educational Sciences at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University

The Faculty of Educational Sciences at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University was established by Board of Trustees Decision No. (5) on (14/9/1999). It includes three main academic departments, each striving to offer a variety of study programs that meet students' needs and academic trends.

University Requirements Department

The University Requirements Department was established by the Deans' Council Decision No. 1/99 on (10/10/1999). Initially, it supervised the compulsory and elective university requirements, which then amounted to (30) credit hours, approximately (25%) of the hours required to obtain a bachelor's degree. Currently, the department offers only (9) credit hours, covering courses in Military Sciences, Principles of Physical Education, Leadership, and Community Responsibility.

Department of Curriculum and Instruction

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction was established in the academic year (1999/2000) and offers multiple academic degrees, including a bachelor's degree in Classroom Teaching and Kindergarten. It also provides diploma programs in education, such as the General Education Diploma, the IT Education Diploma, and the Professional Diploma in School Administration. Additionally, the department offers advanced programs like a Master’s and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, positioning it as a leader in preparing future teachers and developing educational curricula.

Department of Special Education

The Department of Special Education was established by the Higher Education Council Decision No. (630) on (18/4/2004), and teaching began in the first semester of the academic year (2005/2006). This department offers various study programs, including a bachelor's degree in Special Education, a Professional Diploma in Learning Difficulties, and a Master’s degree in Counseling, contributing to the preparation of specialists in the field of special education and providing the necessary support for students with special educational needs.

Faculty Members

The faculty currently has (46) members holding Ph.D. and Master’s degrees, distributed across various academic ranks, including (11) Professors, (12) Associate Professors, (18) Assistant Professors, and a full-time lecturer. The faculty is committed to providing a supportive academic environment that encourages excellence in teaching and research.

E-Learning and Innovation

In line with the university's policy aimed at achieving excellence, the faculty has developed various academic and administrative services through electronic means, including the development of an academic advising system and electronic correspondence.

Facilities and Location

The faculty is currently located on the second floor of the library building.

Future Aspirations

The faculty aspires to introduce new graduate programs, such as Educational Measurement and Research, Educational Leadership, Arabic Language Teaching Methods, and Educational Technology. It also plans to establish professional diploma programs in various fields, including Mathematics and Science Teaching Methods, as well as English and Arabic. Additional specializations will include Psychological Educational Counseling and School Administration. The faculty aims to develop specialized laboratories and centers, such as Teaching Methods Labs, a Counseling Center, a Testing and Measurement Lab, as well as laboratories for Art, Science, and Music Education, in addition to an integrated center for Special Education.
