Under the patronage of the President of Al-Hussein Bin Talal University (AHU), Professor Atef Al-Kharabsheh, the Princess Aisha Bint Al-Hussein College of Nursing, in cooperation with the Faculty of Information Technology, organized yesterday the First Technology Forum for Digital Technology Projects in Healthcare. The event was held at the auditorium of the Princess Aisha Bint Al-Hussein College of Nursing.

 

The forum was organized as part of the University’s ongoing efforts to support innovation and entrepreneurship and to encourage students to transform their ideas and academic projects into innovative, practical technology solutions and products. The event followed the students’ completion of learning pathways offered through JoCodes, one of the programs under the Youth, Technology and Jobs (YTJ) Project of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, implemented in cooperation with the Crown Prince Foundation and delivered by Hello World Kids. These efforts aim to contribute to community development while enhancing students’ readiness to meet the evolving demands of the labor market.

Professor Atef Al-Kharabsheh, President of Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, emphasized the importance of national initiatives related to digital transformation and innovation. He noted that the University places significant emphasis on these fields, based on its conviction that advancement across academic and professional sectors is increasingly linked to the effective use of technology and artificial intelligence.

He stated that the University is working to strengthen cooperation between the Center for Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship and the University’s various faculties. He stressed the importance of ensuring that training and development programs encompass all academic disciplines, including the humanities, alongside scientific and technological fields, in order to equip students with the skills required by the future labor market.

Al-Kharabsheh also noted that the University seeks to strengthen partnerships with public- and private-sector institutions and to transform students’ projects and creative ideas into practical ventures capable of contributing to economic development and serving the local community. He affirmed that the students of Al-Hussein Bin Talal University are a source of pride for the institution, given their talents, ideas, and creative capabilities.

For her part, Dr. Doaa Al-Duwairj, Dean of the Princess Aisha Bint Al-Hussein College of Nursing, stated that the forum aligns with the College’s vision of keeping pace with digital transformation and utilizing digital technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT), and information technology to advance healthcare delivery methods. She explained that the College is working to further develop its academic curricula and integrate concepts of artificial intelligence and digital literacy into a number of courses, while also strengthening partnerships with the public and private sectors and empowering students in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship.

She added that, at the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic year, the College began updating its curricula to keep pace with rapid technological developments by incorporating artificial intelligence applications into several courses and introducing pathways and programs aligned with labor market needs.

In the same context, Dr. Sumaya Abu Saleh, JoCodes Program Coordinator at the Faculty of Information Technology, presented the University’s experience in implementing the national program. She explained that the Faculty had adopted a strategy to integrate the training courses offered through JoCodes into several academic courses across its various specializations. Professional certificates earned by students are also recognized as part of their coursework, accounting for the equivalent of 10 marks.

This approach has contributed significantly to increasing student participation in the program. Since its launch in March 2026, approximately 1,000 students from Al-Hussein Bin Talal University have enrolled, with around 800 students having earned recognized professional certificates to date. Abu Saleh emphasized that the initiative represents an important step toward strengthening students’ digital skills and enhancing their readiness for training and employment opportunities as well as the broader requirements of the labor market.

Mahmoud Al-Rasa’i, Director of the Center for Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, explained that the Center seeks to provide an integrated environment that enables students to transform ideas and projects from the conceptual stage into practical and viable products and ventures. This is achieved by providing spaces for design and training, skills development opportunities, incubation and capacity-building programs, as well as access to the Center’s network of partnerships with public- and private-sector organizations.

He added that the Center’s services are not limited to University students but also extend to academics, researchers, entrepreneurs, and members of the local community with promising projects and ideas. This allows them to benefit from the available resources, further develop their projects, and connect with supporting organizations and potential investors.

Dr. Mo’tamar Jarrar, Head of the Department of Community Health Nursing at the Princess Aisha Bint Al-Hussein College of Nursing, stated that the First Forum for Digital Technology Projects represents the culmination of the College students’ efforts in the fields of health informatics, artificial intelligence, and digital skills. He attributed this achievement to the continuous support and guidance of University President Professor Atef Al-Kharabsheh and College Dean Dr. Doaa Al-Duwairj.

Jarrar highlighted the importance of equipping students at an early stage with scientific research and technological tools and enabling them to apply these tools within the healthcare sector. He noted that this approach contributes to preparing qualified graduates who are capable of innovation and of developing pioneering national projects with the potential for further development and commercialization.

Jarrar also praised the participation of University students and their distinguished experience at the German Jordanian University, noting that their success reflects the progress Al-Hussein Bin Talal University has made in integrating technology into the educational process. He emphasized the importance of moving from a culture of “I can” to “We can” through teamwork and the integration of efforts, with the aim of advancing a shared national vision and serving both the community and the healthcare sector.

The forum featured presentations of a number of innovative technological projects developed by University students. It also highlighted the training, capacity-building, and incubation opportunities provided by the Center for Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship. These initiatives aim to strengthen a culture of innovation among students and open new horizons for transforming knowledge and ideas into projects and products with sustainable impact.

The forum was attended by Dr. Doaa Al-Duwairj, Dean of the Princess Aisha Bint Al-Hussein College of Nursing; Dr. Sumaya Abu Saleh, University Coordinator and Liaison Officer with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship; Dr. Suleiman Al-Naimat, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences; Dr. Mahmoud Al-Rasa’i, Director of the Center for Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship; and Mr. Moamen Abu Housa, Communications Director of the JoCodes – Jordan Coders Program, in addition to a number of academics and students.

The forum reflects Al-Hussein Bin Talal University’s continued commitment to supporting students and innovators and strengthening integration among its faculties, specialized centers, and various sectors. Through these efforts, the University seeks to contribute to building a generation equipped with knowledge, digital skills, innovative capabilities, and the ability to compete effectively in the labor market.
