Project-Based Learning (PBL) in the Computer Information Systems Program
Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an instructional approach that focuses on the practical application of knowledge through a real or simulated project. Students work on:
-
Analyzing a real-world problem
-
Designing a software-based solution
-
Implementing the solution
-
Documenting and presenting the project
The Computer Information Systems (CIS) Program adopts Project-Based Learning (PBL) as one of its instructional approaches to strengthen the practical component of learning and establish a strong connection between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
The following tables present the courses in the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems that incorporate Project-Based Learning. The tables indicate the number of projects, the percentage of the course grade allocated to projects, and the type of learning adopted in each course.
Project Weight, Number of Projects, and Actual Hours Allocated to Projects
First: Number of Projects
Each course includes one or more practical projects to be completed during the academic semester.
Second: Project Weight
25 marks out of the total course grade are allocated to the project component, ensuring a balance between theoretical and practical assessment.
Third: Actual Hours Allocated to Projects
The actual time required to complete one project is estimated at approximately 30–40 hours.
