The Department of English Language and Literature

The Department of English Language and Literature is part of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University. The department houses two programs, the bachelor's program (founded in 1999), and the Master’s program (founded in 2019). All of these programs are academically accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education in Jordan. With more than 17 professors, the department offers students the opportunity to study closely with renowned scholars and teachers with diverse interests and areas of expertise. The staff of the department publishes regularly in hundreds of separate publications and attracts research funding from a wide variety of sources. They are specialized in every facet of literary endeavor, from historical periods of literature to literary theory, to the practice of writing, and to interdisciplinary studies.
