الأستاذ الدكتور محمد سالم عبدالله الحويطي، من مواليد 24 نوفمبر 1965، وهو أستاذ متفرغ في كلية الهندسة بجامعة الحسين بن طلال، متخصص في الهندسة البيئية. شغل الدكتور الحويطي مناصب مهمة، بما في ذلك عميد كلية الهندسة ومدير الأبحاث وتطوير الأعمال في شركة مناجم الفوسفات الأردنية (JPMC) ومدير دائرة التنقيب. وهو حاصل على عدة درجات علمية متقدمة، بما في ذلك درجة الدكتوراه. في الهندسة الكيميائية من USM-Malaysia ودكتوراه. دكتوراه في الهندسة البيئية من الجامعة الأردنية/ جامعة برلين التكنولوجية . حصل البروفيسور الحويطي على جائزة فولبرايت لأبحاث ما بعد الدكتوراه من الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وجائزة إنديفور التنفيذية من أستراليا. وتشمل رحلته الأكاديمية الواسعة أيضًا زمالات بحثية وأساتذة زائرين في مؤسسات مشهورة في جميع أنحاء العالم. وقد قدم الدكتور الحويطي مساهمات ملحوظة في مناصب مختلفة، مثل مستشار الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية (IAEA) في فيينا وأستاذ مشارك في جامعة الملك سعود. تركز أبحاثه على الممارسات الهندسية المستدامة، بما في ذلك تقييم المخاطر الصحية للعناصر المشعة والمعادن الثقيلة في المياه والنباتات والتربة والنفايات الصلبة الصناعية ومياه الصرف الصحي في المناجم والمحفزات النانوية المستخدمة في معالجة مياه الصرف الصحي. وقد تم التأكيد على قيادته في الأوساط الأكاديمية والصناعة من خلال العديد من الأوسمة والألقاب. الجوائز، بما في ذلك جائزة الملك عبد الله الثاني لإسهاماته في قطاع التعدين في الأردن، ومنح متعددة من ألمانيا مثل مؤسسة DAAD للمنح والأبحاث (DFG). إن تفاني الدكتور الحويطي في تطوير الهندسة البيئية من خلال الأبحاث المبتكرة والتعاون الدولي لا يزال يؤثر على هذا المجال بشكل كبير.
