·         From October 2009 until Sept. 2013 I was appointed Commissioner for local community development and environment in Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA); governmental higher position. During this period I kept my academic position in the university with regard to my researches, scientific projects and supervision of master students.

Teaching and Research Assistant in the University of Jordan, 1995-1998

·         Commissioner for local community development and environment in Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) from October /2009 until Sept./ 2013, in this period I achieved the followings:

-          Guided the preparation of the strategic master plan of the region of Petra, which won the 2012 American Planning Association’s Pierre L'Enfant International Planning Award,

-          Attracted several international corporation projects for PDTRA both in community development and environmental issues

-          Established and founded three directorates: local community development, environment, strategic planning and studies.

-          Established self managing projects in the authority that assisted in reducing running costs, and overcome shame culture in accepting simple jobs,

-          Headed many higher committees in planning, negotiations and decision making,

-          Shared in finding community agreement to find and operate co-projects between the authority and the local community that contributed in reducing poverty and unemployment rates

-          Founded Petra Award for Scientific Research,

-          Operated tourism geology trails,

-          Founded program of tourism industry development between PDTRA and Al Hussein bin Talal University.

-          Direct and open public negotiation with the demonstrators in the "Arabian Spring" (2011-2013), and crisis management, efforts led to the needed reform and public satisfaction.

-          Guided several campaigns of awareness in many fields (positive community change)       

-          Scientific and wise management of all types of the wastes in Petra region (solid, liquid and gaseous) accompanied with awareness programs.

·         Applying many field surveys concerning geophysical prospecting in the field of groundwater, engineering purposes, dams under construction, subsurface karst cavities and geoelectric surveys of subsurface archaeological imprints, and processed geophysical data of different survey methods for different purposes.

·         Working for the Aqaba Region Authority in November/2001 in a project supported by GEF- The World Bank Group (Jordan - Gulf of Aqaba Environmental Action Plan Project) to evaluate groundwater resources and human impacts in the region.

·         Member in many examining committees of M.Sc. and Ph.D. projects 2002-20014.

·         Teaching short courses of water management in the arid lands in the Technical University of Munich in summer 2008

·         Member of the selection committee of the DAAD Ph.D candidates for Germany 2008.

·         Assistant to the dean for the affairs of contact with the industry since September 2008 until September 2009

·         Member in the national committee of the “Jordan Atomic energy Commission” in tenders evaluation for the site study of the nuclear power plant in Aqaba, 2009

نشاطات خدمة الجامعة والمجتمع

Contribution to local communities' development

1-      قمت ومنذ بداية تعييني بالجامعة بمخاطبة عدة جهات مانحة وشركات ومصانع ووزارات وغيرها لتفعيل دور البحث العلمي في خدمة قضايا الوطن ورفد الجامعة ماليا، وقد لاقت بعض من المحاولات النجاح.

2-      تسليم قاعدة معلومات رقمية عملاقة حول المياه الجوفية والبيئة وبرمجيات متخصصة في مدينة العقبة لمفوضية البيئة في سلطة منطقة العقبة الاقتصادية الخاصة 2005

3-      تقييم بيئي لبعض المشاريع المنوي عملها في بلدية المفرق عام 2003 خلال مادة التقييم البيئي لطلبة البكالوريوس

4-      القاء محاضرة في الجامعة حول البيئة والاقتصاد أمام الحكام الإداريين لمحافظة المفرق عام 2004

5-      الإشراف على دورة خارجية لأوائل طلبة الماجستير والبكالوريوس في أكساد في دمشق-سوريا 2005

6-      ترؤس لجنة لصيانة أجهزة الجيوفيزياء في المعهد وارسال جزء منها الى دولة المنشأ في بريطانيا للصيانة (2005)

7-      الإشراف على دورة خارجية لأوائل طلبة الماجستير والبكالوريوس في أكساد في دمشق-سوريا 2006

8-      عقد دورة تدريبية مجانية في تقييم الأثر البيئي من خلال جمعية البيئة الأردنية فرع العقبة لموظفي ومهندسي المصانع (صيف 2006)

9-      اعداد مادة المختبر لمادة التربة والرسوبيات 2006

10-  دراسة على آبار الجامعة العاملة لغايات إعادة تأهيلها 2006

11-  العمل مع الصندوق الهاشمي لتقييم وضع سد باير وسبب التسرب القائم فيه 2008

12-  تسجيل حلقات حول البيئة والتوعية البيئية على الإذاعة الأردنية في برنامج "بيت بيوت" وبرنامج البيئة بما يعادل 40 حلقة بين عامي 2006-2008

13-  ممثل المعهد في مجلس الجامعة 2007/2008

14-  مساعد عميد معهد علوم الأرض والبيئة لشؤون الاتصال بالصناعة منذ 9/2008 وأقوم بالترويج لأجهزة المعهد والجامعة في خدمة قضايا الصناعة والتلوث البيئي والمياه

15-  مندوب الجامعة لتنظيم ورشة العمل " واقع السدود ودورها في الحد من العجز المائي" 2008 برعاية سيادة الشريفة زين بنت ناصر وبالتعاون مع نقابة الجيولوجيين، والتي عقدت في جامعة آل البيت.

16-  توجيه أبحاث التخرج لطلبة البكالوريوس والماجستير لخدمة قضايا المياه والبيئة في الجامعة ومدينة المفرق والمملكة وإرسال نسخ عنها للجهات المعنية

17-  رئيس لجنة الاستثمار وعضو الجمعية الأردنية لتنمية وتطوير الموارد الطبيعية منذ 2007.

18-  المشاركة في تحديد مواقع اتساع مكاب النفايات في المفرق واربد والسلط – وزارة البيئة / الجمعية العلمية الملكية 2008-2009

19-  ترؤس وعضوية لجان في معهد علوم الأرض والبيئة (لجان خطة المواد، لجان الامتحانات، البحث العلمي، المكتبة والدراسات العليا، اللجنة الاجتماعية)

20-  ترؤس وعضوية عدة لجان لدراسة طلبات بعض المتقدمين من حملة الدكتوراة والماجستير والبكالوريوس للعمل في حقل التدريس والإشراف الأكاديمي والفني في المختبرات في معهد علوم الأرض والبيئة

21-  ترؤس وعضوية عدة لجان عطاءات لشراء أجهزة ومعدات للمعهد

22-  الإرشاد الأكاديمي لطلبة المعهد منذ 2002

23-  المشاركة في اعداد بروشورات وكتبات عن المعهد والأجهزة المخبرية فيه

24-  عقد دورة في تقييم الأثر والبيئي والمياه الجوفية لمتدربي مشروع انفنت عام 2006/2007

25-  عضو لجنة مقابلة واختيار مبعوثي مشروع انفنت للتدريب في ايطاليا 2006/2007

26-  عقد دورات في مجال البيئة لمعلمي العلوم في مدارس المفرق والبادية 2006

27-  المشاركة في مشروع دكتور لكل مصنع لتقييم أثر مخلفات الجبس الصناعي في المجمع الصناعي في العقبة على البيئة، صيف 2007، وحصل التقرير النهائي على علامة عالية (جيد جدا)

28-  ترؤس لجان الإعداد لليوم العلمي للمعهد لعدة مرات

29-  عريف حفل لكثير من فعاليات المعهد من أيام علمية وورشات عمل

30-  عضو لجنة تحديد دور الجامعة في خدمة منطقة الملك الحسين بن طلال التنموية الخاصة في المفرق 2008.

31-  اعداد فيلم عن المعهد وأجهزته وقدراته العلمية والفنية لخدمة قطاعات البيئة والمياه وصناعة القرار 2008

32-  الترويج لخريجي المعهد في القطاع الخاص والعام من خلال علاقاتي الشخصية لمساعدتهم في الحصول على فرص عمل

33-  تحصيل قبولات أكاديمية من ألمانيا لطلبة الماجستير الخريجين من داخل المعهد والجامعة ومساعدتهم للتقدم لمنح DAAD

34-  لقد عمل على مشاريعي المختلفة و المدعومة سبعة طلاب وطالبات من خريجي المعهد وكانوا يتقاضون رواتب شهرية

35-  توفير قواعد بيانات GIS رقمية لطلبة المعهد والجامعة للغايات البحثية والعلمية

36-  الترويج لأجهزة المعهد في كثير من القطاعات والمؤسسات لغايات التحليل ورفد الجامعة ماليا

37-  استقطاب عدة مشاريع مدعومة لرفد الجامعة ماليا ( ذكرت سابقا)

38-  نشر الدراسات والأبحاث والانجازات العلمية في الصحف المحلية لبيان دور الجامعة في خدمة القضايا الوطنية من خلال البحث العلمي منذ 2002

39-  عرض كل ما هو جديد في لوحة الإعلانات للطلبة من أبحاث علمية جديدة وتقنيات حديثة حول مصادر المياه والبيئة منذ 2002

40-  تدريب طلبة المعهد على الأجهزة الميدانية المختلفة خلال الطلعات الميدانية وحثهم على استخدام نتائج القياسات في خدمة قضايا البحث العلمي والوطن كالبيئة والمياه منذ 2002

41-  تزويد المعهد بنسخ الكترونية عن برمجيات علمية حديثة كنت قد حصلت عليها من جامعة فورتسبورغ في ألمانيا كخريج سابق مع الحفاظ على حق المؤلف منذ 2002

42-  تاليف كتب علمية ضمن فريق من المعهد تتحدث عن قضايا البيئة والتلوث البيئي والكوارث الطبيعية وتقييم الأثر البيئي وشح المياه منذ 2006

43-  بداية سلسلة من الأدلة العلمية البيئية لمحافظات المملكة بدءا بدليل العقبة البيئي العلمي منذ 2007

44-  أشارك باستمرار بفعاليات الجامعة ونشاطاتها كانتخابات مجالس الطلبة (الاقتراع والفرز)، وحفلات التخريج، وعضوية نادي العاملين في الجامعة وانتخاباته، واللقاءات مع ادارة الجامعة، واللقاءات مع الطلبة المستجدين.  

45-  اقامة علاقات طيبة مع أساتذة من جامعات ومؤسسات محلية وعربية واقليمية وعالمية والتواصل الدائم معهم لخدمة قضايا البحث العلمي.

المؤهلات العلمية و الشهادات

Ph.D. degree (2002) in Hydro-geology and Environment (University of Wuerzburg/ Germany) Presented thesis entitled:

“Hydrogeo-Ecosystems in Aqaba –Coasts and Region; Natural Settings, Impacts of Land Use, Spatial Vulnerability to Pollution and Sustainable Management”. The study was sponsored by his majesty King Huessein bin Talal and DAAD.       

M.Sc. degree in Hydro-geology and Environment 1997 (University of Jordan). Presented thesis entitled “karstification to the North of Irbid and Its Role in Enhancing the Human Impacts on the Local Groundwater Resources”.
