The College of Information Technology (CoIT) was established in 2009 after re-structuring the college of Information Technology and Computer Engineering and the College of Mining and Environmental Engineering. During this process, the Department of Computer Engineering and the Department of Communication Engineering were moved from the CoIT while the Department of Information Technology has been divided into three departments, namely Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, and Software Engineering.
The CoIT has 24 faculty members and 13 staff members. In addition, the College has 8 computer laboratories connected to the web via broadband internet connection. The College also has 5 computerized classrooms were embedded e-learning is conducted through the employment of data shows.
The university has realized the demand on the IT education in Jordan. Therefore, some scholars were sent to obtain their PhDs from elite universities in countries such as the USA,UK, and Australia.
