Vision:

Petra College for Tourism and Archaeology at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University will be recognized: 

  • Nationally, as a premier bachelors granting, interdisciplinary cultural heritage programmes. 
  • Regionally, as a model educator of students demanded by a growing and increasingly diverse job market for archaeologists, tourism planners and managers and hotel services specialists.
  • At AHU, in its exemplary role in catalyzing both interdisciplinary and international collaborative research and education programmes.
Furthermore, our vision reflects a balance among education and research, advancing innovations in these areas, preparing skilled students for the workforce, and the international perspective of the university’s vision.

Mission:

     The mission of Petra College for Tourism and Archaeology at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, is to provide a holistic foundation to the study of cultural heritage through the three major subfields that include, archaeology, tourism, and hotel management. This is achieved through a rigorous but balanced curriculum that encompasses the current theoretical perspectives and methodologies of the discipline.
     The College is committed to the highest standards of teaching, research, and training for students'. We believe that College research should be integrated into our teaching so that we can engage our students to fully appreciate the richness and diversity of the discipline of cultural heritage and at the same time enrich the students’ educational experience.
    We offer a variety of educational opportunities that include academic study as well as practical hands-on learning activities through a variety of educational programmes, field projects, and internships.


Objectives:
Petra College for Tourism and Archaeology goals are to: 
  • Educate undergraduate and graduate students in the diversity and complexity of cultural heritage through effective instruction in archaeology, tourism, and hotel management.
  •  Advance scientific knowledge through basic and applied scholarly research in archaeology, conservation, cultural resources management, tourism and hotel management and by research stemming from interdisciplinary collaboration. Research projects will center on Jordan’s cultural heritage in terms of its study, interpretation, conservation, development and promotion with special focus on the World Heritage Site of Petra and its vicinity. 
  • Provide professional training and career development in the fields of archaeology, conservation, cultural resources management, tourism and hotel management. 
  • Integrate research discoveries into classroom lectures and engage students in research projects. 
  • Promote public awareness about importance and significance of cultural heritage in the life of people through partnership with local community and its organizations.
