Dr. Husam Alsanat is the Dean of the Civil Engineering Department and an Associate Professor of Structural Engineering at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University (AHU) in Jordan. His research centers on aluminium and steel structures, with a focus on advancing sustainable and disaster-resilient buildings and facades. He earned both his Master’s and Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Griffith University, Australia, where he specialized in the bearing behaviour of aluminium lipped channel sections. Before transitioning to academia, he worked as a structural engineer at the Consolidated Consultant Group in Jordan. Since joining AHU in 2020, Dr. Alsanat has taught core structural engineering courses such as mechanics of materials, structural analysis, and the design of steel and concrete structures. He received a Teaching Excellence Award in 2019 and served as Dean Assistant for Quality Assurance before his current appointment as Dean. He has also contributed to national academic planning through his role on the National Qualifications Framework Committee. An active scholar, Dr. Alsanat has authored numerous publications in top-tier international journals and collaborates with global research networks. He is a member of the Jordan Engineers Association, Engineers Without Borders, and the Cities Research Institute – Australia.
